Whether you're looking for a birthday party activity or a weekend adventure, or want to arrange a team building event to teach kids the importance of teamwork, we've got you covered.

So, gather your family and friends and prepare for an unforgettable experience. Let's look at some top escape rooms sure to provide a thrilling and challenging experience for kids and adults alike. Let’s dive in.

The Great Escape Room, Rochester

Located in Rochester, NY, The Great Escape Room is one of the most prominent Escape Rooms in the area. It’s an award-winning Sherlock-themed escape room that welcomes kids and adults alike. However, a paying adult must accompany kids under the age of 16.

Their Scavenger Hunt Rooms, Sherlock's Study: What's Up Watson?, and Moriarty's Gameroom: The Hunt is Afoot! are suitable for all ages and experience levels, making them a great choice for fun family activities.

If you’re into suspense thrillers, they’re good choices.

Mythical Escape Rooms

That’s us! Yay!!

Jokes aside, we at Mythical Escapes are Rochester’s favorite hi-tech escape room with unmatched thrills and immersion.

Both our games, Cryosleep and Eat or be Eaten, are suitable for kids. The minimum age for Cryosleep is eight, and the same for Eat or be Eaten is 12. If you're looking to do fun things with family and kids, give us a thought.

Remember, our rooms will test your observation, problem-solving, and team skills as you decipher cryptic puzzles to escape in time. Our games are ideal for weekend family outings or fun birthday parties or team building for kids.

Also, players under 15 must be accompanied by a paying adult in the room.

Omega Escape Room

Omega Escape Room in Rochester offers immersive games to test your puzzle-solving, communication, and teamwork skills!

Fun-filled large rooms, lighting effects, soundtracks, and a few unique secret elements will make your family outing memorable. Also, their touch screen clue system and the virtual reality stations add to the charm.

However, their games are designed for players of age 16 and above. So the rooms are not exactly kid-friendly. We recommend checking their website for the game descriptions before booking any games, especially if your group has kids. If you're trying to find fun things to do with much younger kids, look elsewhere or call them to ask for their game recommendation for your group.

Also, teenagers are more in need to learn important life skills like cooperation, communication, and teamwork. A team building event at Omega or any other escape room can be a great idea.

Rochester Escape Rooms

With four different games of 4 different themes, Rochester Escape Rooms is one of the city’s big attractions.

Whether you like haunted themes, a bank heist, a treasure hunt, or some innocent fun and exciting games, Rochester Escape Rooms has something for everyone.

All four games are family-friendly and suitable for players aged 11 or higher. So the games are kid and teenager-friendly but not recommended for younger children.

But please note, this is not a strict rule but a recommended age. If your group has children below 11, call Rochester Escape Rooms and discuss if playing the games with your group is OK. They can even help you choose the best room for your group based on your preferences.

GTFO Escape Rooms

The GTFO Escape Rooms is very welcoming, even though the name may suggest otherwise. This escape room has two immersive games: Prison Break and Escape the 90's!

You get to experience the thrill and adrenalin rush as you try to break out f the prison by fooling the guards or get out of the room where you’re trapped with everything from the 90s.

Both games offer thrilling and immersive fun and are suitable for kids.

GTFO doesn’t have an age limit and welcomes players of all ages – no restrictions! However, players aged 14 or below must be accompanied by a paying adult in the room.

Locked A Rochester Escape Room

With five different games of different themes, this family-owned escape room, Locked A Rochester Escape Room, is a good place for families. The games are immersive and suspense-thriller-themed.

The website doesn't mention any age limits or the minimum age for any of their games. However, the game descriptions indicate that the games might suit everyone. But we’re not too sure.

If you’re planning to visit, we recommend calling them up and asking if the games are suitable for kids.

Nut House Escape Rooms

The Nut House Escape Rooms has four immersive missions that can house large groups of up to 14 people.

Some of their games contain elements of surprise, gore, or flickering lights, so be aware of it before you visit, as they may not be suitable for people with heart disease, blood pressure, or epilepsy.

However, they don’t have a minimum age requirement, and the rooms are open to all. The only caveat is that there must be a paying adult in the room for kids aged 13 and below, which is the minimum recommended age.
